Ah, fall is in the air! Here in New England, the leaves are dropping (as are the temperatures – and like a stone I might add), and for many businesses it is trade show time. We at Snowbound Software have just finished a busy trade show schedule covering events both here in the US and abroad, showing our wares to clients, prospects and partners…more on that later…

Market research firm Gartner recently gave EMC''s Documentum the highest possibile rating when analyzing ECM solutions.Market research firm Gartner has awarded Documentum, the enterprise content management solution designed by EMC, with the best possible rating of “strong positive” in its recently released report. The study focused on the booming ECM management market, which has become increasingly important for companies as regulatory responsibilities have grown.

Documentum offers its customers the ability to automate certain ECM processes while reserving others for user action. This allows organizations to reduce time for aspects of file retention and management, while ensuring more complex processes are handled properly. Furthermore, the solution includes a number of settings that allow companies to specify retention schedules based on various requirements that apply to certain files.

EMC”s focus on Documentum likely to show benefits in 2011

With a refocused team behind it, EMC''s ECM solution Documentum will likely take off in 2011.Throughout 2010, the ECM world has been focused on Open Text and Microsoft SharePoint, as the solutions most likely to positively impact adopting companies. However, earlier this year, EMC announced its solution, Documentum, will be refocused to leverage the growth of cloud computing in the enterprise IT world.

According to IT Business Edge, EMC has been fairly quiet since the announcement earlier this summer. But the company plans to aggressively push its new cloud-based version of Documentum in 2011. Whitney Tidmarsh, chief marketing officer for EMC’s Information Intelligence Group, told the news provider its effort will likely include Documentum, eDiscovery solutions and text analytics.

Gartner recently reported web content management has become a billion dollar industry.Market research firm Gartner recently reported companies must direct the same focus toward storing their web content as they have with their other data in recent years, according to Reuters.

As social media and other popular web-based communication replaces outdated forms, it”s imperative that it is stored and maintained in accordance with various compliance mandates and other regulations. Gartner reported that, for the first time ever, web content management solutions generated more than $1 billion in revenue in 2009, despite the global economic recession.

Furthermore, Gartner reported the market for such solutions is expected to grow by 14 percent between 2009 and 2014.
